Operating System - A Modern Perspective, Nutt, 2000
Course Goals:
understand the concepts of operating system design
use theory to understand the capabilities of current operating systems
analyze basic operating system concepts through programming projects
Grades:
There will be weekly homeworks (including a project), two midterms, and one final. The evaluation scheme is roughly as follows (I reserve the right to change it):

~10 homeworks, 1 project: 35% total
2 midterms:30%
1 final:35%
class participation:taken into account if necessary.

Topics are file management, process management (including scheduling, synchronization, deadlock), memory management, I/O system, protection & security.
