Back in Arusha, we began a week of studying birds.

All the local birds had to be learned (Sacred Ibis)

Working in and around Mt Meru gave access to many different habitats

Other birds were caught in mist nets...

... and carefully extracted.

Once in hand, the birds were brought back to camp.

for banding (White-browed Coucal)

Birds were measured...

.... and checked for molt and reproductive condition

By dinner, everyone's appetite was quite keen

Later, we would talk about the day's activities

Diversions included a round of "Pass the Hedgehog"...

... or "Count the army ants in Dylan's pack!!"

Towards the end of the week we took a two-day trip around Mt Meru.

Arusha National Park

Studying in style

We saw several troops of Black and White Colubus Monkeys
